Wind/Hail Damage

Wind and hail damage are two types most commonly experienced due to severe weather patterns. Hail can range from pea size up to the size of golf balls or larger! Leaving your home to take the brunt of that descent and damage can leave some hard-to-spot damage to the roofing and siding of your property that can lead to costly repairs down the road. Wind, however, leaves more noticeable damages in its wake, such as missing shingles and unfastened siding. While easy to spot if left unrepaired, it can open up your home to water and pest damage.

   DO

DONT

  • Don’t try to inspect your roof while weather is still unfavorable. Yes, their is a time frame in which you have to file a claim, but most policies have a minimum of 1 year to file a claim.

  • Don’t start any work until you and the insurer agree on the Scope of Loss. Without this, you may jeopardize having enough in your final settlement to restore your property to its pre-loss condition.

  • Don’t automatically take what the insurance company offers at first…you might end up needing more money if the extent/scope of the work goes above and beyond what was initially decided.
